Sail Through the Heart of Burgundy and Provence

Uniworld offers a captivating voyage through Burgundy and Provence as the River Royale sails along the Rhône and Saône rivers.

Highlights of the all-inclusive shore excursions include an exclusive dinner on select dates to L’Abbaye de Collonges, the Paul Bocuse owned and operated restaurant in Lyon; a visit to L’Ecole du Grand Chocolat de Valrhona, where guests will make chocolate side by side some of the world’s most famous pastry chefs; and visits to a fourth-generation vintner in the Tain l’Hermitage region, home to the finest Cote du Rhône wines in the world.

Onboard, Provencal and international cuisine is adeptly brought to life under the tutelage of Executive Chef Simon Tanner, who will introduce new cuisine concepts expressly for River Royale. The daily menu integrates regional cooking and wines reflective of the areas the ship will visit. Cooking demonstrations using specialty ingredients from the spice, fruit, and vegetable markets of Lyon and Arles (also on the shore excursion itineraries) will be offered onboard, along with private reserve wine, cheese tastings, and galley tours. Cakes and specialty pastries from some of the finest French bakeries will be offered daily at teatime.

Ports of call include Arles, Avignon, Viviers, Tournon/Tain l’Hermitage, Lyon, Mâcon, and Châlon. The River Royale is the first river cruise ship in the industry to provide Wi-Fi and Internet access with e-mail and satellite ship-to-shore calling.
