AAA EXTENDS TEEN DRIVING PSA CONTEST DEADLINE
Grand prize winner will receive $2,000.
NEWS from AAA South Dakota, August 21, 2009. AAA has extended the deadline to submit entries in the AAA Teen Driving public service announcement (PSA) contest to September 30.
Teens interested in entering the contest are encouraged to create a 60-second PSA which will build awareness of the biggest traffic safety issues facing teen drivers. The winner of the contest will be awarded a grand prize of $2,000, second place will receive $700 and third place will receive $300. Prizes are courtesy of AAA Insurance.
“The extended deadline gives students who were caught up in the back-to-school chaos a chance to create a brief video on the topic of teen driving and perhaps win $2,000 for their efforts,” said Mark Madeja, spokesman for AAA South Dakota.
A panel of judges will select the top five PSAs, which will be posted on www.aaateendriving.com. Online visitors will then be invited to vote for their favorite.
“This summer, AAA South Dakota launched this exciting online social community site specifically for teen drivers,” said Madeja. “It’s designed to spark dialogue among teens regarding the many vital issues facing novice drivers, such as behind-the-wheel distractions, texting, peer pressure and ways to reduce risk. Teens learn from each other.”
Teenage drivers are invited to log onto www.aaateendriving.com and share their on-the-road experiences with other teens in discussion forums, keep up-to-date on safe driving techniques and resources by reading the Teens on the Road blog, vote in polls to see what other teen drivers are doing, and enter the AAA PSA contest. The Teens on the Road blog features teen drivers from around the country along with traffic safety experts, who offer tips and answer questions posed by teens.
AAA South Dakota provides roadside assistance, travel, insurance and auto-related services to nearly 88,000 members in South Dakota. A not-for-profit, tax-paying organization, AAA South Dakota is a leading advocate for the safety and security of all travelers. The auto club can be visited on the Internet at www.AAA.com.
