  OAHU

USS Arizona Memorial and Pearl Harbor Historic Sights

The USS Arizona Memorial is the mid-section of the sunken battleship and gives you the chance to understand the sacrifice made by our military. You’ll also want to visit the Battleship Missouri Memorial, USS Bowfin Submarine Museum and Park, Pacific Aviation Museum, and the USS Oklahoma Memorial.

Haleiwa, Historic Surf Town

Gateway to the famed surfing beaches on the North Shore’s Waimea Bay and about an hour’s drive from Waikiki, you’ll find the charming town of Haleiwa, filled with local style and country ambience, cool surf shops, and boutiques. And the restaurants have an understated appeal – don’t miss Jamison’s by the Sea.

  MAUI

Lahaina

On the National Register of Historic Places, Lahaina is an old whaling town on the west side of Maui. It’s been transformed into a hot spot with many art galleries, unique shops, and restaurants. Stroll down lively Front Street and visit historic stops like the U.S. Seamen’s Hospital, Hale Paaho, the Pioneer Inn, and other sites on the 55-acre Lahaina Historic Trail.

Alii Kula Lavender Farms

Nestled under the ledge of Haleakala Crater in Upcountry Maui is Ali’i Gardens Maui, home of the Ali’i Kula Lavender. With over 45 varieties of lavender, you’ll find comfort, relaxation, and serenity as you sip your lavender tea. The most popular tour is the one-hour Lavender Garden Tea tour, which operates daily from 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Surfing Goat Dairy

Located on the slopes of Maui’s Haleakala Crater in lower Kula, you’ll find the award winning “Maui Gourmet Goat Cheeses”.  Tours of this unique farm are available.

  KAUAI

Waimea Canyon – “Grand Canyon of the Pacific”

Mark Twain gave this awesome sight its moniker, comparing it to the Grand one. On the western side of the island, it’s one mile wide, 10 miles long, and over 3,600 feet deep. It can be shrouded in afternoon mist or dazzling in the morning sun. Inside of the Kokee State Park, the canyon road is 40 miles long with 45 miles of hiking trails. The ranger’s station at the Kokee Natural History Museum has maps for hiking and exploring.

Napalo Coast

Napali Coast and Beach

Kauai’s famous coastline and beach is a marvel, stretching for 17 miles along the north shore of the island, with panoramic views of the Pacific, cascading waterfalls, and velvet-green mountain cliffs. The only land access to this enchanted area is on the Kalalau Trail, an 11-mile trail that starts at Kee Beach, crosses five different valleys and ends at secluded Kalalau Beach. It can be a treacherous hike – two days to see it all - so be prepared.  For the less adventuresome, take a helicopter or boat tour.

Poipu Beach Park

Named as America’s best beach by the Travel Channel, this sunny gem is on the southern coast and a favorite of Hawaii’s Monk seals. There is a natural wading pool for toddlers and young swimmers, and the park is protected by lifeguards (a Monk Seal watch team protects the seals). The shaded park adjacent to the beach has restrooms, showers and picnic tables.

  THE BIG ISLAND OF HAWAII

Hawaii Volcanoes National Park

With approximately 3 million visitors, this is Hawaii’s most-seen attraction. And why not. It encompasses the summit of the world’s most active volcano, Kilauea, and the world’s most massive volcano, Mauna Loa. Start at the Kilauea Visitor Center to get the latest information on the hiking trails and camping, ranger-led activities, road conditions, and more. If you’ve got limited time, take the 11-mile Carter Rim Drive. And eat at the Volcano House!

Waipio Valley Ride the Rim Tour

Called the “Valley of the Kings”, this dramatic and peaceful valley on the Big Island’s northern Hamakua Coast, was home to the Grass Palace of ancient royalty. The tallest waterfall, Hiilawe, cascades down 1,300 feet in the back of Waipio. The surrounding mountains climb 2,000 feet and the road to the top – some say the steepest in the U.S. - is restricted to 4-wheel vehicles.  You can experience this dramatic place on the Ride the Rim tour.
